Kanakadhara Mahalakshmi Temple is an Unique monument at the exact place where the historic event of young Sankara's first hymn,a soulful appeal to Goddess Mahalakshmi resulted in a downpour of Golden gooseberries and banished not only the poverty of a pious lady but continues to be an effective Manthra for obtaining Mahalakshmi's grace for wealth and prosperity.

Recent News

The Vedic tradition of worship in this temple is based on Mahalakshmi Ratnakosha, a rare manuscript brought to light by the vedic scholar & retired principal of Mylapore Samskrit College Dr K.V.Seshadrinatha Sastrikal. He was recently awarded the title of Maha Mahopadhyay by the Kanchi pontif Sri Vijayendra Saraswati.
Kumbabhishekam of Kanakadhara Mahalakshmi Temple was performed under the divine guidance of Brahmasri Seshadrinatha Sastrikal on 2/3/4 March 2018.
Regular divine discourses, Bhajans, Bhagavata Saptaham are conducted in the temple.
